Ask HN: Still no signs of a vibe coded startup boom, why?

Given that we have had PhD-level agentic reasoning AI models since last autumn I was expecting to see an explosion of new startups by now, but everything looks exactly the same. What could explain this?

Maybe someone could share some insights from the last YC batch or any other accelerator?

    Because vibe coding is a scam.

    I hope we are all now realizing (and as predicted) that vibe-coding is not only not software engineering but it is a complete scam.

    If I wanted to find a way for someone to be completely dependent on wasting credits and hitting "accept all" and not knowing what they are doing, of course promoting this would be the logical way to get in more money.

    Except that no-one wants to do free maintenance of that vibe-coded slop or write tests for it.

    It turns out you still need a software engineer.
