    The only hope here, is that it will not happen.

    But cutting a mission like Nancy Grace telescope that has been in the works for > 10 years, 1 year before launch and on budget is peak idiocy. I know people who spend years on this mission, and I can only imagine how they feel.

    Obviously rational arguments won't work with this administration. Let's hope that the self-interested people in congress who have various space-related institutions/firms in their constituencies will lobby for the changes, but I don't have high hopes.

    This looks pretty bad. I was naive enough to expect that the pro-Elon faction would cancel useless garbage like Artemis and Starliner, but they instead go after the actual science programs?
