What are these silly points good for anyway?

I feel a strong urge to „use“ these points up that HN has granted me. I simply dont feel like collecting them. Its a bit like a social credit score and i dont like the idea. Do you love your points and want more?

I do love my points. Getting flagged ruins my day. Getting down voted annoys me.

On the other hand, trying to get upvoted seems like the path to groupthink.

On another hand, looking at some user ID you've just voted on is interesting, seeing if their comments are always in the same vein, always on a single topic. If most/a lot of a use ID's comments are flagged or even dead, that interests me, too. Is that person just as big a nitwit in real life?

I think every so often somebody gets pissed at me and starts downvoting a bunch of my comments and realizes pretty quickly there's no point. Every so often I seem to get a similar "stick" of upvotes too. I have no fear of making the occasional shitpost.

I have other haters who spin weird stories about me [1] and I think there are some folks (not sure if they are haters or not) who post things to provoke me, like back when I was talking a lot about my cat Bob B people would post articles about how you shouldn't try to catch a feral cat.

So far I think nobody knows how to respond to my fox thing now though.
