  They are very up front about it though, I ended up not installing their iPhone app because of it. Rather than a million word ToS, there was a very obvious note that they would be gathering and storing data. I’d never seen one quite like it.

  When articles like this are posted, there are usually many whataboutism comments regarding US tech companies also collecting data.

  They are comparing apples to oranges.

  "U.S. tech companies are known to stockpile as much user data as they can, but DeepSeek's privacy policy makes Meta, Google, and OpenAI look tame."

  "In another section about how DeepSeek shares user data, the company states that it may share user information to "comply with applicable law, legal process, or government requests."
