Here's my story. I was referred to a role by a previous coworker/manager close to a month ago. I've had three interviews, each with positive feedback. Yesterday I had a phone call planned with an HR person. Since there was no indication of further interviewing, I figured I would be getting a decision. Turns out they need a fourth interview with a manager that I've already spoken to. The reason? "We just want to answer your questions" is what he said.
One thing that makes this unreasonable is that the first interview with that same manager went way over time, likely due to follow up questions. We're talking 30-40 minutes over time. Also: if I had additional questions that went unanswered during the interviewing, I would have contacted them.
So it really feels like they're trying to stall so that they can continue to interview more applicants. I can't hold out indefinitely because of school. Also I feel like I'm having my time wasted. I get a bad taste in my mouth knowing that I came in strong (the referral), performed well, and that they're prolonging the process. Any suggestions?
