Ask HN: Cloudtop Suggestions?

Hi all! I have some basic scripts I run from my terminal whenever I open them up. It's grown a bit over the past year and it's really becoming hobo infrastructure at this point.

I'd like a cloud provider that would not give me any surprises, over a fixed rate, to give me a basic linux box to run these from. Some scripts might be in Rust, Python, Golang. I'm not aiming for them to be too ambitious.

I've been eyeing DigitalOcean's droplets for their fixed rates at 5 USD for a while. Also Render, but I'm not sure how flexible that one is. fly.io is complaint central so I'm avoiding them for a while, but I could be convinced with some compelling arguments.

What's your go-to cloud provider for this?

PS: Merry Christmas!

For your use case you could probably find a Linux vps for well below $5/mo. Even $12/yr for decent specs.

If you're looking for a basic Linux box in the cloud to run some scripts, a $5 VPS/VM is the way to go.

Render operates one level above VMs and is better suited for full-stack production apps. (I'm the founder/CEO; AMA). Merry Christmas!
