A wise move. Australia is a great place to build houses and to dig up rocks to sell to China, but a really dumb place to build anything security sensitive.
Australia has legislation[1] that allows the security services to compel you to make design changes and build functionality to make your product more convenient for the government, and less secure for your users. It sounds like AFP were in the process of doing just that.
