Ask HN: Would You Recommend GrapheneOS

by endorphine on 8/15/24, 1:19 PM with 1 comments

I'm thinking of installing GrapheneOS on a Pixel, for using as my daily phone, migrating away from the stock Android experience and Google Play store.

The apps I care most about:

- email (could use the browser too) - Firefox - Google Maps (alternatives more than welcome) - Web banking apps (but could use Firefox instead) - Spotify

People using it as daily driver, what are the issues you experienced?

I care most about battery life, privacy life, security and UX.

Yes. It all just works. Battery is good and almost all apps just work. Fairemail is the app I use for email.

For banking apps, some need "exploit protection" turned off, but that's a very simple toggle in the app's settings
