Ask HN: What technologies will fuel the next hype cycle?

Now the current GenAI wave is slowly slowing down, what in - your opinion - will be the next Big Thing? Battery-powered systems? A comeback of crypto/VR? RNA biotech? The perpetual fantasies of fusion/quantum/superconductivity maybe? I am genuinely curious at this point

Robots. I think humanity needs that something will do non-intellectual work for us, like cleaning and etc. This I think will increase humanity happiness more than something doing intellectual work.

I think an easier question is what qualities people will think the Next Hype Thing has. (Even if they aren't true.) For example:

    1. Investment now will enable a near-monopoly later.

    2. Success does not depend on any kind of negotiation or alliance-building, it can be done either unilaterally or in a way where other parties (e.g. delivery drivers) have no negotiating power to worry about.

    3. Someone can say "infinite growth" without being laughed out of the room.

    4. Competitors can be ruined by predatory pricing.

A browser for a competing format to the WWW. The WWW is now a 35 year old alternative to print magazines and print shopping catalogs.
