  I have been using a flip phone always (since the early part of the century anyways). Some time I have carried a smartphone (without service) to serve as a camera and have a little connectivity (wifi) for looking stuff up when away from the desk. Still, a smart phone would probably be useful (some many text these days). What are some of the options available for something simple (linux or the like if possible).

  What are Hacker News readers experiencing with alternative phones? I tried an Openmoko phone way back but i was a bust (never worked and the bricked on an update). I like wha I see in the PinePhones but am just not sure. I really like the Rotary Un-Smartphone but not quite enough functionality. I would like to hear.
