    For those who were just as mystified as I was when I clicked on the link:

    The main goal of EU.org is to provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations who cannot afford the fees demanded by some NICs.

    EU.org is not endorsed to any European Union initiative, but it's also not a TLD, only a subdomain.

    How is this different from.. Geocities?

    I've taken to buying a .xyz that (mostly) matches the mobile phone number for each of my family.

    That costs me about $10 for 5 years.. I then point it to whatever service they're like me to host for them.

    The offer is being slow on the uptake atm, but I am in the middle of migrating from google photos to immich and that has garnered some interest

    Ok, but there are (at least) 4 people in my country with the same name as me, so either it's going to be some shitty name.name4938 deal or someone is going to be disappointed.
