UK watchdog looking into Microsoft AI taking screenshots

  This is the same company who cofounded an industry group called the “Frontier Model Forum” industry group alongside Google and OpenAI and Anthropic, to push for regulations. Amazon and Meta joined this group recently too. The members are required to acknowledge and amplify “trust and safety” issues with AI, and the policies they support will potentially make it illegal to build models that are open or uncensored. Ironically the people we need protection from are these very companies who are violating our privacy and behaving anti competitively, not others who may offer competitive alternatives.

  Microsoft will just use their fancy new regional-based settings framework and start piecemealing features off in countries that start to complain while leaving it for the rest of the world to suffer with.

  That’s how they’ve handled the EEA so far and they’ll just keep mashing things the same.
