Ask HN: Why there is no autosuggest by default in windows and Mac?

Have you guys felt the need to have autosuggest in windows and mac. I sometimes feel frustrated typing the same thing again and again. The autosuggest feature the way we have on the code editors should be present in every field.

Do you use anything for autosuggest?

The opposite - I don't use anything for autocomplete. Except, I suppose, filename completion in the Terminal shell.

On Mac terminal, use the up-arrow, Luke. Or the usual *nix history editing !whois:p (to make sure you don't do something dangerous twice, like !rm

Auto-anything on ios varies from frustrating to downright hilarious, or as the phone suggests, hula.

You can have, sort of: System Settings -> Keyboard -> Text Replacements

I have some mostly used shortcuts for my fullname, first and last name, mother's name, father's name, id number etc.
