Ask HN: What Is the MkDocs-Material of Photo Galleries

Hola amigos -

I'm looking for a static-site photo gallery generator, with the "ease of use" of "drag new photos & videos into a structured directory of photos & videos & event dates, turn this into a site I can rsync up to an S3 bucket/Cloudfront[0], and point a domain name at it". And it should look stylish and nice, pretty please!

Quick background - trying to go "lo fi" on my important systems, and "put my money where my mouth is" on open-source tools: use them & improve them. Eg VSCode --> VSCodium (for coding, and notes & document creation - in MarkDown, formatted with Pandoc), de-Googling, "tricking" myself into writing & publishing, but not using tools like hosted blog platforms - I want as much of my "personal tech infrastructure" to be open-source, resiliant tools which I can invest in for 10+ years. I hope you get my point (and please share suggestions on how to do this while running a company, doing business with a lot of clients cloud-based infrastructue, which inevitably leads to having to store data there as a "default"... anyway, discussion for another time).

For now, Photos. And Videos. in Folders (typically /YYYY/MM - MONTH/YYYY-MM-DD_Event-name; example: /2024/04-April/2024-04-15_EAFIT-University-Makerspace-ONGoing-Tour/(many photos & videos dumped here). I'm thinking with my phone, to drag photos from MacOS Photos.app into the "to publish" folder, and running a script which runs the site generator, rsyncs them to a remote server, and does a snapshot remote backup (eg Glacier?)

Open-source, well-supported quality. What have we got?
