Ask HN: Is there a bias against older founders? How to remain hopeful?

Much of YC’s content and outreach is clearly targeted towards college students and younger generations. There is little to no acknowledgement of those who may have gotten into tech later in life with aspirations to eventually start a venture.

It’s incredibly deflating, particularly with every new YC company that comes out of stealth reaffirming the idea that it’s almost entirely a young person’s game.

There is far more to the software world than YC. There was sufficient commentary when you posted this sentiment elsewhere to cover anything specific to YC. But on a broader level, if you want to found something, go for it. YC is not the gatekeeper to this industry.

It appears that way. These companies get all the hype. Statistically, though even in software. The most successful founders are over 51yo. But, you may have to get seed money outside of VC. B/c there does seem to be this funding bias.
