Ask HN: Does anyone still use the Kinect sensor?

Just found the sensor and i see there was a lot of activity about 10 years ago. Wondering if people is still using or there is other open platforms available now for this kind of thing. Thinking of fixing some dance painting projections for my kids.

    There was a time where these were used heavily in robotics, nowadays people usually use other sensors but every now and then a project using a Kinect pops up. Last one off the top of my head is this one: https://github.com/macorobots/roomac_ros
