Ask HN: Keyboard/Mouse Recommendations

by jcuenod on 1/18/24, 2:56 PM with 2 comments

I decided to pour a glass of water over my keyboard, and I've been using a backup mouse for a while now. Obviously it's personal preference, but I'm curious to hear what HNers recommend.

I don't know how much of a glowing recommendation I can make but you might like beer more so than water plus you might be more careful with it and not spill it next time ;)

As for keyboards & mice I've been using vintage for so long until now for a few devices where some interesting products got my attention from the Macally and X9-Performance brands:

Never heard of them until they showed up as overstock for cheap, but they are decent.

I like the bluetooth keyboard for my phone. Also have mouse in bluetooth. Plus the backlit large-print keyboard is really good for typing in low light. And the compact keyboards without the numeric keypad save space, especially when it's more of a workbench than a desk. There can be some funky key arrangements but lots of them are cross-platform between PC and Mac.

It can also be good having the mouse with a variable DPI button.

To move up a notch a fairly entry-level Logitech gaming mouse will give better resolution in the office even if you are not gaming.
