Ask HN: Is Obsidian Still Recommended?

I've seen much praise of Obsidian the past year here.

My good old .txt files are getting unwieldy, and I'm considering something like Obsidian.

If you use it: do you pay for their add-ons (Sync, Publish), or do you use a cloud provider (Dropbox, Nextcloud, etc) for sync/backup - what about on the go (iOS/Android)?

Obsidian is great, but I personally went with Joplin because it has native integration with Nextcloud and is open source. Obsidian can be synced with Nextcloud via a plugin, though.

I still use it - and have done since it was in beta.

I pay for Obsidian Sync which has yet to let me down.
