This tracks for me; I joined Wikipedia after I encountered some juvenile vandalism on a sanitation page. It felt good to actually contribute back.

The next day my edit was reversed my account was blocked, and I was accused of the vandalism I just fixed. I made an appeal to the effect of “no you’re mistaken, look more closely, why would I even do that and come back here?”

Fast forward and some Wikipedian messages me to “cut the guy some slack” and to “let it blow over”.

At that moment I realized I had only been part of Wikipedia for a single day and I already hated it.

I logged out and deleted my account after that.

Reading this article showed me my experience want unique and the arbitration indeed exists to protect editorial regime.
