    I can't take this seriously because the british rule did not affect all parts of the country the same way. My state was not affected by a famine, none of my predecessors were affected as far as I know. So how does this explain current outcomes?

    There is certainly a genetic component to this, and most indians have terrible lifestyle diseases and we eat a lot of processed foods, and this is even before the import of western fast foods.

    The suggestions are to return to ayurveda, unani and yoga - which I find silly. At least yoga will promote getting some physical activity which is better than nothing.
