If you're interested in religion but want to go beyond the New Atheists, I recommend picking up a book like
Refuting the New Atheists or
Atheist Delusions. You don't need to be a religious person to realize that the Hitchens/Dawkins approach is an extremely shallow one that basically no scholar of religion takes seriously. They are mostly just polemics aimed at causing controversy to sell books. If you want a real critique of Christianity, pick up Nietzsche instead.
I also recommend A Secular Age, which isn't about the New Atheists, but shows how religion and secularism / atheism are not as simple as some think.
