GoDaddy suspended our site on Friday evening and doesn't respond back

by QueensGambit on 7/30/23, 6:03 PM with 41 comments

I run a website whose domain is with GoDaddy. It is used by thousands of stores to take online orders. It was misused by a user for phishing. We banned him, but GoDaddy's compliance team has suspended the website on Friday evening and gone for the weekend. ETA should be less than 24 hours, but their support team is asking me to call on Monday morning. Hundreds of store owners are calling us, saying that they are not able to sell anything at the month-end. Do you know how to expedite the process?

It's too late for a short term solution but long term --- friends don't let friends do GoDaddy.

Yes, go to sleep and wake up when it's Monday. They won't come back on the weekend for you unless you're a big customer (which you probably aren't, considering they suspended it without warning and are telling you to call back on Monday)

Call the abuse department, not sure if they still are like they used to be, but they used to be 24/7 and would actually pick up the phone, 480-624-2505.

Never got support email from GoDaddy. Never buy from them. They take your money and disappear

Today is the day you learn about enterprise plans.

Sadly GoDaddy hasn't been even halfway decent for years.

They were hacked and didn't detect it for a long time: https://www.wired.com/story/godaddy-hacked-3-years/

I would place this company as being in the coast along and extract money from customers phase.

It's far cheaper to just turn off a random customer and lose a few dollars than pay for people to investigate things over the weekend, as you are experiencing...

Get a real vendor instead of GoDaddy.

What do you expect for 13$/yr

Just pay their premium dns packages and 24/7 support packages.
