Ask HN: Examples of 'Manual' Start Ups?

by nicgrev103 on 7/25/23, 1:18 PM with 2 comments

In PG's 'Do things that don't scale' essay he talks about manual start ups 'being' the software in the early stages before automating the process once you have a deep knowlege of the process and enough demand. He gives the example of stripe manually adding users to 'instant' merchant accounts. I was wondering if anyone had any other good examples to share?

Any kind of company that starts out as a managed service and then moves to a self-serve platform/SaaS (my company right now)
