Ask HN: Has 1Password Become Unusable?

Wondering if others have had the same experience. Long-time user of 1Password on iOS and MacOS.

It was an example of one of those products that Just Works™. Seamless integration with browsers, great apps, great sync, and so forth.

I wasn't too peeved about moving to the subscription model: it was good software and was happy to pay.

With the family features, it was so good I even enrolled my family and work colleagues.

And yet, it seems to have peaked a while ago. Now the extension rarely works on Safari, sometimes works on Chrome and it locks out. I find myself manually copying passwords over by hand or having to restart browsers.

How did we get here? Is it the Electron move? Is it just me?

I does sometimes refuse to autofill. I have considered reporting it as a bug but I am unable to reliably reproduce it. Restarting Chrome seems to fix it.

I set up ssh access to use a private key stored in 1Password the other day. When I touch the fingerprint sensor to allow it, it will sometimes switch me to a different window. That’s irritating.

    Other than that, no problems.
