I'm thinking about writing my software engineering bachelor thesis about predicting natural disasters (floods), because I think it's an interesting, relevant and technical challenging project. I got plenty of time, therefore prior to diving into the technical part I want to learn about floods and geography.
Are there any books/ resources/ professors you can recommend to learn more about floods, or natural disasters in general, and how to predict them (manually)?
I could imagine a machine learning approach being quite helpful here, especially when predicting floods based on satellite images, but that's something I'll have to figure out during my research.
