Ask HN: Does it help to attend a SaaS conference to get a job in a SaaS startup?

I'm trying to decide whether the price of admission to an upcoming SaaStock conference (1K USD) is worth it for what I want out of it.

I'm on the lookout for a full-stack/front-end/eng. manager role in a SaaS startup. I'd like to meet startups that are hiring and pitch them my profile. I have my own bootstrapped SaaS business that I currently work on full-time but want to continue working on as a side hustle, while I work a full-time job.

Wondering if SaaStock is a quality conference that attracts hiring managers in startups.

Any tips from people who have attended this conference or found a job through attending a similar conference? Also tips on finding a job through meetups, conferences and other unconventional means are welcome.

A 1k USD conference is not worth it for a job IMO. These conferences are pricey because they are good places for people to achieve sales.

If you want to go the conference route for networking, instead you should like at cheap-but-sponsored tech conferences. Often there are people on the lookout for potential hires at the various talks/booths. You can chat up the people giving the talks and they will connect you.

Also, as more general advice, I recommend Arc (https://arc.dev/). They're a great place for consulting gigs as well as long term hiring.
