Might be just me, but I find that excessive for a tool that runs 24/7.
Shouldn’t be too hard to improve upon, I think. Both have -l 0, nettop even -L 0, simplifying output parsing.
I grew up with much slower systems, so I probably would go further and look at the source code of those tools to see whether the shelling and the parsing of the output can be avoided. Maybe, something maintainable can be extracted from that code.
