    Hi HN!

    I'm Jaba, employee #1 (or 2?) at Confabulation Corporation. We're building Ollie - an AI-powered shopping assistant who works for you. We've been at it for about 3 months, and today we're launching our v0: gift recommendations. Would love for you to try it out and give feedback, thanks!

    The company was spun out of the Allen Institute's AI2 incubator. Bill Lennon, one of our founders was an Entrepreneur in Residence there. Our other co-founders are Matt Busigin, and Max Fergus.

    Having gone back to school as a mature student to study Biophysics, I put out some low-key feelers for a summer job. Matt (who I'd worked with before) convinced me to drop out of school (again!) and "come do crazy things" with him. He reached out to me on a Thursday, I talked to Bill on Friday, and by Sunday I was all in. Then I met Max, on Monday. All in squared.

    It's still early days, but we're finding that the ideation and gift suggestions are already useful. How does it work for you?

    Show HN is no guarantee of getting any traction or feedback these days especially with the firehose of AI integrations. I wish you well on your personal career journey and don't take this as a market signal other than you didn't get lucky in the front page algorithm maybe try again soon. I saw the smol ai copilot thing guy drop two Show HNs then pop up on another post days later that had a hundred comments. Anyhow good luck and seeing giftwrap.ai on the gpt plugin list is the real market signal you should concentrate on if they do well you are also in a good position all things being equal.
