Suppose this was inevitable based on everything done since the takeover but it still sucks. I’d been using it the last few months and found myself far better informed of local events. I don’t see myself going back to using Twitter as it’s just a time sink and generally unpleasant to wade through and use. It’s a company that’s got to earn money to keep the lights on so I do see some of the business logic of it. But really if they were that concerned, they could charge a dollar a month for an ad free and more pleasant experience alongside the current version and it would probably have enough sign ups to cover the cost of running it and still earn a small profit. But no, we live in a world where arseholes live to extract the most amount of money they can out of everything and everyone rather than offering something of value to people at a reasonable price and then just chilling out and enjoying the company of each other. So here we are. Can’t see myself using it regularly. Will try to find other ways to stay informed about things happening in my community.
