Train derails on way to load nuclear waste

    * On the way in. not on the way out.

    * "Spacer" cars. Which I suspect means not even containers.

    * Not the first time.

    To me the primary concern is the lack of structural integrity in the railroad system to this situation: the track maintenance and truck maintenance should not make this a recurrance. If its not the first time, it suggests there is a systematic weakness in this model.

    Not that "Trains are bad" or "Nuclear is bad" but "if you want to use trains for nuclear waste handling, do basic track maintenance and pre-check it"

    I suspect this only made news because of more recent train derailment and accidents. Not that it stands alone as a news story, but because context is everything. Thats how the news cycle works.

    As soon as a decent picture of a small girl feeding ice-cream to a squirrel is available, they'll put that on high rotation instead.
