Ask HN: Should I Venture into iOS Development as a Hobby?

by OulaX on 3/8/23, 9:00 PM with 2 comments

I work remotely as a fullstack web developer.

I always loved Mobile Development, and I want to learn iOS development as a hobby in my free time, possibly transitioning into an iOS developer in the future if a good opportunity comes along.

Anyone here achieved this with a full time job as a developer? Will I burn out? Is iOS even feasible?

I do it on the side as a hobby myself and am also a full-stack web dev. I should say I’ve never released an app to the App Store, they are usually utility apps that I find useful. Will it burn you out? No idea. My hobby has been coding long before it was my career, so for me it is relaxing and fun. Everyone’s threshold is different.

I do hope myself to one day transition, I’m a bit over the web dev grind (mostly to my orgs approach to it.

It is feasible. But, you need an experienced mentor to unblock you when you encounter obstacles. I run a free iOS bootcamp. Hit me up if you're interested. mailto:kuharich@hotmail.com
