Tell HN: How to close your LinkedIn account

by pksadiq on 12/3/22, 9:55 AM with 2 comments

In the past, I have tried deleting my LinkedIn account several times. Every single time, in the last step, the final deletion button was inactive, and no reason given for why it's so. The Internet wasn't helping my either.

So today, I tried once again: But this time, I used my browser inspector, removed 'disabled="true"' for the "Done" button, then clicked it.

voilà! LinkedIn said: "We’ve closed your account."

I got a hard lockout to my LinkedIN account a few months ago, since I enabled 2FA and lost the device. I had to send a passport scan to support so they could verify it was me, so I could close my account. Not that I minded that much.

It goes to show you their support team is actually active and don't ignore queries (even if the service is free).
