Proton Drive downloads your files without breaking encryption

    Ahem, but, since Proton Drive sends the 'web worker' code to my browser, said code can do absolutely anything it (or proton.me, or a hacker, or a government agency, etc) wants! This requires complete trust, so you may as well keep your files unencrypted and transfer with https to avoid in-transit snooping.

    According to ProtonMail’s transparency report, the company was given 3,572 requests in 2020 from Swiss courts, more than double the previous year. Yen says the company fought over 700 of the cases in 2020 alone but did not reveal how often they were successful.

    Storing data may fall under different laws than email.
