An interesting tidbit about this acquisition is that Tencent owns 40% of Epic Games[1]. Tencent also owns 9.1% stake in Spotify and 10% of Universal[2]. Given the description of wanting to use Bandcamp for a creator marketplace ecosystem, plus both Epic's and Tencent's interest in licensed/streaming content, I wonder if they are going to downplay the ability for users to save copies of their music sometime down the line. The announcement from Bandcamp says that this won't happen, but when new ownership comes in, promises tend to fly out the window pretty quickly.
