I'm sure there are quite a few Redditors among the masses of HN and anyone familiar with Reddit will know that when another user comments on something you posted (e.g. a link or comment), you get a message telling you as much.

What I'm working on is a Chrome extension that will provide a similar feature here on HN. The problem is that I'm new to Javascript (I'd never used Javascript before ~24 hours ago) and I'm having a hard time getting things to work properly.
