Ask HN: Why isn't digital news organized?

Digital News is superior than print, mainly because it is far more up to date than print. But print always presented news in an organized (chronological) manner by priority or interest. Whereas, the Internet often times overwhelms the reader by overloading information. Isn't all this dysfunctional? How do you not get overwhelmed? Homepages of popular publications, such as the NYTimes, is bloated with disorganized information. RSS presented the best method to stay up to date, but that too couldn't prioritize news as print did. Why isn't there a solution yet?
