Ask HN: What are your favourite software developer conferences?

Hi HN!

As someone that comes from an academic background in programming languages, the set of conferences was pretty clear (PLDI, POPL, OOPSLA, ICFP, ...) but moving away from academia into more software engineering I have found it hard to nail down the places where developers meet.

What are your favourite software developer conferences? Also, I've seen that FOSDEM 2022 will be online - is this a trend to other conferences?

Thanks!

StrangeLoop: interesting talks, by engineers and people working on the problems themselves

!!con: short talks on small-ish, interesting projects

All Things Open is one of my favorites. But I'm biased - it's held near where I live, and I've attended and/or presented there numerous times. But beyond that, I like that the focus is on, well, "open" things - open source, open hardware, open web, open culture, and related topics.
