Google told me that someone tried to access my account

    The support team doesn't seem to read the details because it's either an automated AI or an "automated" human limited to canned responses by some internal protocol. If you lost access to an online service it's never because something went wrong on their end, the assumption is that you can either login without issues or you're a malicious actor.

    That's why I hate so many services want my phone number for security. I changed my number this year and almost lost access to my Paypal account because of this. They could use a backup E-Mail for security, or FIDO2 support, but one stopped being trendy and the other seemingly won't be supported for another decade judging by adoption so far.
