    A noble goal ... the awful fact about it is that there is no guaranteed repository for such efforts. Who will pay for the siting once the authors are gone?

    Seems long past time to think about - and insure - that these efforts will be rewarded by some guarantee of longevity. Else the inevitable deadlinks and bitrot will take a massive toll. Today we can search reproductions of forgotten papers from a century ago. But what will searches of our digital times turn up?
