With Negative Rates, Homeowners in Europe Are Paid to Borrow

    I don't see how, at least in Spain.

    Most of the home mortgages are indexed to the one-year Euribor. As I write, it is at -0,5%, so to get paid, you should have a mortgage with an interest rate less than euribor+0,5%, something that I have never seen. They usually start at euribor+0,9%, up to euribor+1,8%, all ballpark figures.
