Hi HN - Ian and Anuj here.

Organized is a public repo that provides resources about requesting public records from police departments and ensures that records that are requested and received are made available and permanent

We want to make it simple for anyone to request records from their local or state department by consolidating information about the relevant Freedom of Information laws and drafting templates for record request submissions.

Additionally, records that are received from police departments can be shared publicly and categorized in the repo, allowing for other citizens, investigative journalists, or nonprofit organizations to search for and use the data for their own analysis and activism.

Previously, we started organizeapp.org, a site to collect police misconduct information from first hand experiences. Based on our learnings with that project, and inspired by this excellent repo focused on the 2020 George Floyd protests (https://github.com/2020PB/police-brutality), we are starting this project anew.

For ways to get involved, or for more information, check out the repo!

    Cheers to a brighter future.
