Ask HN: What are some engg. domains that will be table stakes services in 2030?

Remember how having a dial up connection was the norm for internet connectivity in the 90s and early 2000s.

Remember how DBAs and database developers from service based consulting orgs used to be flocking in large enterprises to maintain and build systems.

Some of these have been now changed for the better - Thanks to cloud, open source, better connectivity. But, What are some of the engineering domains today where you see headcounts in plenty that could completely diminish 10 years from now, and why?

Quantum might be ramping up around then. AI/ML might continue to grow. Maybe AR/VR will finally take off. It could be something we don't even know about yet.

One thing might be different though. It seems that the DBA era relied on on-site employees. I think the advent of [_]aaS will curb, or at least concentrate, the demand in future domains.
