Ask HN: GitHub, why it's bad for freelancers/external collaborators

I work as a freelance developer for two small companies (around 6-10 devs) and they both use GitHub privately. People are touting GitHub's move to per-user pricing as a triumph! I feel it's sneaky! Not only will both of my clients eventually have to pay for me, twice, but I think any new clients will be reluctant at adding me to their repo.

I've already heard of this happening! Middle management decided to switch to GitHub's new plan in a friend's company. Let's call them Muppets! Next week, two new contractors start, management told him not to add any more users, and to just figure something out. He's moving to BitBucket!

Is it just me, am I alone in my opinion that this was a bad move?
